2024 Tournament PreviewAn outstanding year for the Mountain West helped Boise State rack up six Quad 1 wins -- including a non-conference win against St. Mary's -- and make its third consecutive NCAA Tournament. Four of five starters score in double-digits, led by 6-8 forward Tyson Degenhart (17.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg). A 6-7 guard, Chibuzo Agbo (13.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg) adds 41.7 percent shooting from 3-point range. The backbone of the team, though, is defense, as the Broncos are top 30 in KenPom's defensive efficiency metric and hold opponents to just 30.6 percent from distance (23rd in the nation). Boise State is also strong on the glass, ranking fifth in defensive rebounding rate with 6-8 O'Mar Stanley (13.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 bpg) controlling the paint. Momentum is not on Boise State's side after a one-and-done showing in the conference tournament, but this is the best shot for the program's first ever NCAA Tournament as it gets Colorado in the 10-seed play-in game in the South.
