2024 Tournament PreviewDespite finishing fifth in the Big South at 6-10, the Lancers romped through the conference tournament to capture the automatic bid for the second time in three years. Longwood doesn't have much height -- just two rotational players are taller than 6-7 -- but it still gets most of its offense in the paint, helped significantly by second-chance points thanks to ranking 12th nationally in offensive rebounding rate. Senior Szymon Zapala (9.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is a 7-0 center, but the top rebounder is 6-6 forward Michael Christmas (11.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg), who also shoots 41.1 percent from 3-point range. The third Lancer averaging double digits is leading-scorer Walyn Napper (14.6 ppg). Longwood's best win was a Quad 2 road victory against regular-season champ High Point in league play, but it stayed within 10 points of A10 opponents Dayton and St. Bonaventure. The Lancers are one of the better 16 seeds with a 162 NET ranking and 157 KenPom ranking.
