2024 Tournament PreviewTennessee boasts suffocating defense once again, ranking top 5 in KenPom's efficiency metric for the fourth consecutive season. The Volunteers are seventh in the nation in opponent effective field-goal percentage and 9th in defending 2-point attempts. The offense, though, finally caught up this year, due largely to the scoring influx provided by Northern Colorado transfer Dalton Knecht (21.1 ppg), the SEC Player of the Year who shoots 39.7 percent from 3-point range. Scoring threats also come from 6-11 junior Jonas Aidoo (11.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.9 bpg) and 5-9 point guard Zakai Zeigler (11.9 ppg, 5.8 apg), as the Volunteers rank 28th in offensive efficiency (per KenPom). The SEC regular-season champ, Tennessee had one Quad 2 loss (vs. South Carolina) and no bad losses. The Vols are capable of making a run but likely will need heroic performances from Knecht when the competition gets tougher.
