The veteran signal-caller had already underwhelmed during an ugly Week 9 loss to the Roughriders where he netted just 126 yards on 15 completions, so MBT didn't walk into the matchup against the vulnerable Elks defense with much slack. After another sluggish half that concluded with Bethel-Thompson throwing a pick-six on what appeared to be a miscommunication with Charleston Rambo, head coach Jason Maas pivoted to Evans despite the Alouettes holding a 13-11 lead at the time. Evans is likely to get a multi-game look in the starting role, and even if he ultimately falters as well, Davis Alexander may well be ready to return from his hamstring injury at that point.
