Barner finished as the Wolverines' leading receiver in this wire-to-wire beatdown. He also caught the fourth and final touchdown pass of the day for quarterback J.J. McCarthy, reeling in an 11-yard score midway through the third quarter. The Indiana transfer caught just nine passes (on 11 targets) for 93 yards through the first seven games of the season, so it appears his role increased as a result of this lopsided contest. Barner now ranks fifth on the team in receptions so far this season, though it's unlikely he'll see nearly as many targets even if Michigan gets out to another massive lead against Purdue in Week 9.
