Ballard announced Dec. 20 via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to Florida Atlantic, joining the program as a graduate transfer from Texas.
ANALYSIS
In Boca Raton, Ballard will reunite with head coach Tom Herman, who previously coached the quarterback during his first two seasons of college in 2019 and 2020. Ballard's lone action during his four-year stay in Austin came in the 2020 Valero Alamo Bowl, when he played a handful of snaps as a reserve. He'll have up to two years of eligibility to use at Florida Atlantic but is unlikely to serve as anything more than a depth option.
