Edwards was 6-for-20 passing for 126 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 31-13 victory over Auburn. He also had 13 rushes for 50 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
On the one hand, Edwards didn't really hurt the offense, and he was clearly an asset as a runner. He added a touchdown pass and didn't turn the ball over in the contest, which are also both pluses. That said, he still completed just 30 percent of his pass attempts in the contest, a rate that won't gain him much favor at the quarterback position. With Taulia Tagovailoa moving on to the next level, the starting spot under center will be open for the Terps heading into 2024. Neither Edwards nor Cameron Edge really seized the opportunity in a major way during the bowl game, so there figures to be a quarterback competition of some kind on the horizon. The staff could also aim to add a more proven option via the transfer portal.
