2023 Fantasy Outlook
After taking the college football world by storm as a true freshman in 2021 and then seeing his production dip slightly last season, the pressure is on Allen to remind the country why he should be considered one of the top backs nationwide. Last year, Allen still displayed the same vision, power and burst that helped him run wild as a freshman, but the Badgers’ offense was largely lethargic. Uninspiring play-calling and shaky quarterback play factored into his slight regression last season, but the tailback still managed to post 1,242 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. Now, under new offensive coordinator Phil Longo, Allen looks primed to explode in 2023. Longo’s spread system stretches defenses out horizontally pre-snap, which should greatly reduce the number of stacked boxes Allen will face. And while Longo’s offense is technically an air-raid, he loves to utilize talented running backs when he has them. Allen will share the backfield with another talented back in Chez Mellusi, but he’s still the unquestioned RB1 in Madison. Read Past Outlooks

Heats up during second half
Allen notched 12 rushes for 94 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in all two targets for five yards during Saturday's 35-14 victory against Georgia Southern.
ANALYSIS
Allen finished with a vintage ground-and-pound performance after he was omitted from the Badgers' game script for much of the first half. The 245-pound junior logged eight carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns during the second half, which is when Wisconsin seemed to shift from a pass-first play calling mindset to a run-heavy approach. Allen ultimately finished with fewer carries than graduate senior back Chez Mellusi (15), though he still finished with a team-high in rushing yards. Allen and Mellusi should continue to switch off reps moving forward, though it's currently unclear if Wisconsin's offense will stick to a more run-heavy game plan or continue to pass first moving forward.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
A bruising back at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds, Allen entered 2021 as the presumed third or fourth-string running back. Things all changed with Jalen Berger’s dismissal and season-ending injuries for Isaac Guerendo and Chez Mellusi moving him into a workhorse role. Allen finished with 1,219 yards and 11 rushing scores over the last nine games. While Mellusi and Guerendo’s returns to the mix could scale back the team’s reliance on Allen, he should remain the featured option in an offense that sported the nation’s fifth-highest run play rate (64.0 percent) last season.
