Fumbles in blowout loss
Yacamelli compiled eight carries for 39 yards and reeled in his only target for five yards during Saturday's 42-10 defeat versus Alabama.
ANALYSIS
Yacamelli logged eight carries for the second game in a row. What's most encouraging was that the junior remained involved in the rushing game despite the return of No. 2 running back Tawee Walker, who was sidelined last week with an undisclosed injury. Walker and top running back Chez Mellusi led the ground game with 11 carries apiece. Yacamelli provided some much-needed explosiveness in the second half, including on a 17-play, 75-yard scoring drive when he logged six touches for 36 net-yards. However, he followed this up with a costly fumble at the Badgers' own 15-yard line on the team's next offensive series, setting up Alabama to go ahead 35-10 at the end of the third quarter. Wisconsin will likely need to rely even more on the running game moving forward after starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke suffered what appears to be a significant injury in Saturday's loss. This could leave Yacamelli with a relatively productive role as RB3 when the Badgers next play on the road versus USC on Saturday, Sept. 28.
