Veltkamp announced Wednesday via social media that he will withdraw from the transfer portal and return to Western Kentucky for the 2024 season.
ANALYSIS
The redshirt freshman quarterback has decided to stick around with the Hilltoppers after a short stint on the transfer portal. He saw minimal snaps during the regular season but shined in his first collegiate start last week in the Famous Toastery Bowl, leading Western Kentucky to a triumphant 38-35 comeback victory over Old Dominion while completing 40 of 52 passes for 383 yards, five touchdowns and one interception to go with 53 yards as a rusher. The 6-foot-6, 235-pound signal-caller should be well positioned to open 2024 as the Hilltoppers' starter on the heels of his big performance in the bowl game.
