Kancey announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Pittsburgh to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Kancey capped his prolific career at Pittsburgh by taking home 2022 ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors after accruing 29 stops and 7.5 sacks in 11 games. The defensive tackle missed Pittsburgh's final regular-season contest Week 13 against Miami (Fla.) due to an undisclosed injury, and he'll sit out the Panthers' upcoming Sun Bowl matchup with UCLA on Dec. 30 to protect his health in advance of the draft.

Kancey announced Saturday via his personal Instagram account that he won't play for Pittsburgh in the team's Dec. 30 Sun Bowl matchup with UCLA due to an unspecified injury. "Thanks to the best trainers in the country at Pitt," Kancey said in his statement. "I know they will help me get back to 100 percent soon."
