2025 Fantasy Outlook
Although freshman dynamo Jeremiah Smith stole most of the hype in the wideout room last season, Tate quietly built up a great result as the team carved a path to the CFP Championship. The 6-3 junior racked up 52 receptions for 733 yards and four touchdowns, and came up big in the CFP semifinal against Texas with seven catches for 87 yards. Boston is a nice complement to Smith, who has a speedy breakout style. Tate is more of a possession receiver who will rack up excellent numbers in PPR leagues. Emeka Egbuka was the top wideout in that sort of role last season, and his departure signals a significant uptick in targets for Boston, who may get less attention if Smith is double-teamed more often. Still requires day-by-day recovery
Ohio State's head coach Ryan Day said Tuesday that Tate (calf) will undergo a day-by-day process to get on the field, Spencer Holbrook of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tate has sat out two games because of a calf injury, and both he and Ohio State are hoping it will not lead to a third, especially with Jeremiah Smith (undisclosed) also on the mend. The former is only 22 receiving yards from setting a career best in the category, despite having far fewer receptions in 2025 than in 2024.
