Woods announced Dec. 5 via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to SMU, joining the program as a graduate transfer from West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
After three years at FCS Illinois State and two at West Virginia, Woods will return to his hometown of Dallas for his sixth and final year of eligibility in 2023. Though his 2022 campaign was derailed by an ankle injury that limited him to four games, Woods had been regarded as one of the Big 12's top cover cornerbacks heading into the season. If healthy, Woods should provide a big boost to the Mustangs secondary this fall.
