Request for sixth year denied
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said Tuesday that Saunders will transition to a coaching role after the NCAA denied his request for a waiver for a sixth season of eligibility, Nathan Baird of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Saunders was applying for a medical hardship exception after he wasn't able to play in 2019 due to a lingering knee injury, but the NCAA apparently didn't see the merit in the receiver's request. Rather than appealing the decision, Saunders will instead move on to the next phase for his career. The former walk-on will end his five-year run in Columbus with 27 receptions for 294 yards and a touchdown.
