Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
After splitting time with Isaiah Spiller for the last two years, Achane is set to take over the Aggie backfield. Achane has track speed on the football field and it shows with a 7.4 YPC mark and 13 touchdowns over 173 career carries. He also produced in the passing game in 2021 with 24 catches for 261 yards and a score. At 185 pounds he may not have the frame for much more than 200 carries but his big-play ability is among the best in the nation. Achane projects for double-digit touchdowns and with his per-carry efficiency, he’s among the top fantasy backs in 2022.
Achane will once again serve as the backup running back to Isaiah Spiller, but Achane showed flashes of what he could bring to the table if Spiller comes out of the lineup. Achane averaged an impressive 8.5 yards per carry as a true freshman. He had a breakout performance in the Capital One Orange Bowl this past January. Achane rushed 12 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-27 victory over North Carolina. Both touchdowns came in the final four minutes of the contest, including a 76-yard jaunt to the end zone. Kellen Mond’s time at quarterback has ended for the Aggies, so A&M will be working in a new starter at the position, which could only increase the reliance on the running game. While Spiller should still receive the majority of carries, Achane will get some opportunities due to his game-breaking ability.
