Dekkers tried to do the impossible in 2022 by replacing four-year starter Brock Purdy who would go on to impress in his debut season in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. While Dekkers led the Big 12 Conference with 457 passing attempts, he also led the way with 14 interceptions. Iowa State had 23 total turnovers as a team which was one of the worst marks in the country. It’s not all bad though as Dekkers proved that he has a cannon for an arm when he became just the fourth Cyclone in school history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season. Iowa State promoted Nate Scheelhaase to offensive coordinator and returns nine offensive starters which means that they’ll be plenty of opportunity for Dekkers to post significant fantasy production this season. It’s worth noting that he did lose his top target in Xavier Hutchinson to the NFL, yet he does have some shared experience with Jaylin Noel and Dimitri Stanley. Read Past Outlooks
Enrolls at junior college
Dekkers has enrolled at Iowa Western Community College, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Dekkers was charged in the state of Iowa's investigation of collegiate sports wagering, resulting in all of his remaining NCAA eligibility getting revoked with a final ruling in February. After leaving Iowa State, it was only a matter of whether or not he would play football again. By enrolling at a junior college, Dekkers can still play football, albeit at a lower level.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
The Cyclones will have lofty expectations for Dekkers who replaces Brock Purdy, one of the most successful quarterbacks in Iowa State history. Entering his third year with the program, Dekkers has played sparingly with just 44 career passing attempts and no starts against FBS opponents. Iowa State returns just five starters on the offensive end, although one of their returning players is wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson who should be a reliable target for the inexperienced quarterback.
