Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
A lot has gone wrong for LSU since its 2019 title run but Boutte is not on that list. Boutte dominated as a true freshman and was on his way to another huge season with nine touchdowns in six games before suffering an ankle injury. He had a second procedure on the ankle this spring so his health will need to be monitored over the summer, but provided that he’s ready to go by fall camp, Boutte will be the alpha of the LSU receiving corps and there’s hope for improved quarterback play with either Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier or a healthy Myles Brennan at the helm.
Boutte has the look of the next great LSU receiver. The freshman five-star started slow but broke out down the stretch, saving his best for last with a 14-catch, 308-yard performance with three scores against Ole Miss in the finale that vaulted him into the WR1 discussion for this season. The 6-foot, 185-pounder is a downfield threat who turned eight of his 45 catches into gains of 25-plus yards. He can do it all, and it appears that the LSU offensive renaissance that began in 2019 will continue thanks to the team’s talent at quarterback, be it Max Johnson or Myles Brennan.
