Will be available from portal
Owens will be available from the transfer portal, according to his announcement Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Owens has only one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, so it makes sense he considers all his available options by entering the transfer portal. The running back's decision comes after a great 2024 that was similar to his 2023, consistency that will make him an appealing option.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Sadly, Lexington Joseph tore his ACL in spring ball, costing the Panthers their projected starting running back. Now, it’s next man up for Florida International. Or, rather, only man up. After spring ball, the only other back on the depth chart for the Panthers was Owens. That is foreboding. The redshirt sophomore has carried the ball all of 26 times, and those carries have only gone for 83 yards. One assumes the Panthers are going to find somebody to share carries with Owens. He’s not going to 26 carries to replacing the 187 carries Joseph and the departing EJ Wilson combined for in 2022. What we have here is a true mystery. However, it isn’t a mystery you should take the bait on. It’s not like the Panthers were any good in 2022, or 2021 when Owens was redshirted with one touch, a four-yard reception, to his name. Expectations should be quite low for the unproven back.
