Plans to enter draft
Allen will forgo his senior season at Houston and declare for the 2018 NFL Draft, a source informed Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle.
ANALYSIS
A former five-star recruit from the Class of 2014, Allen unseated Kenny Hill for the starting gig at Texas A&M as a freshman and amassed a 33:14 TD:INT across two seasons before transferring out of the program. After sitting out the 2016 season, Allen was expected to keep the Houston offense rolling following the departure of former starter Greg Ward, but he lasted just three games as the No. 1 quarterback before getting benched the rest of the way. With rising junior D'Eriq King set to return as Houston's starter next season and transferring elsewhere not representing an attractive alternative, Allen elected to head to the pro ranks. While Allen's pedigree and measurables (6-foot-3, 211 pounds) are points in his favor, the fact he finished the career in a bench role and had trouble with turnovers when he played last season will likely result in him going undrafted in April.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2014
After sitting out a year due to transfer rules, Allen is ready to take over the Houston offense. Allen won't have the burden of learning a new system, either, as former offensive coordinator Major Applewhite was promoted to head coach. Allen's talent isn't in question as a five-star commit to Texas A&M in 2014-15. He's not the runner that former quarterback Greg Ward was, but Allen brings upside as a passer and Houston has surrounded him with talented wideouts. In a pass-happy AAC offense, Allen is set for success.
