Leader to start after spring
Head coach Shane Beamer indicated Monday thay Sellers is on top of the quarterback depth chart heading into fall camp but suggested Sellers needs to continue to compete with Robby Ashford in fall camp to keep the job, Jordan Kaye of The State reports.
ANALYSIS
Sellers finished out spring ball with a dominant spring game, leading to Beamer's declaration of him as the leader to start as fall camp approaches in August. The sophomore quarterback only recorded four pass attempts last season, so he'll be pretty green under center, which could lead to a somewhat short leash if he starts the opener and struggles. It will still be worth keeping an eye on the competition leading to to the opener, but Sellers is clearly in the driver's seat.
