Leavitt has become the face of the Arizona State football program, and if he plays his cards right, he could challenge for the Heisman in 2025. He was the Big 12's freshman of the year in 2024, and his 3,328 total yards were a school freshman record. He racked up 29 total touchdowns, and Arizona State had a top-30 offense in pretty much any important metric. While superstar RB Cam Skattebo departed for the NFL, they do return a dynamic receiver in Jordyn Tyson and have four returning offensive linemen. Creative OC Marcus Arroyo is back again, and this team was shockingly impressive in the College Football Playoff. Struggles versus Mississippi State
Leavitt completed 10 of 22 passes for 82 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Saturday's 24-20 defeat versus Mississippi State. He also had eight rushes for 25 yards.
ANALYSIS
After a strong performance in Week 1 versus Northern Arizona, Leavitt came crashing down to earth on the road at Mississippi State. He completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes for less than 100 yards and threw two interceptions in the road loss. It was a very disappointing performance for him, especially since that was a winnable game with how well the team was able to run the ball. There is now some concern with Leavitt moving forward, especially when he takes on the tougher conference opponents in a few weeks.
