Leclerc finished third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Lusail Circuit on Sunday evening.

Leclerc has been hit with a 10-place grid penalty for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after the Ferrari driver took on a new energy store, a bitter blow to the team's hopes in the constructors' battle with McLaren, Formula1.com reports.

Leclerc has gone quickest in first practice ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver having set the pace from Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton in a session that saw a number of rookies take part. However, Leclerc looks set to face a grid penalty for Sunday's race with the driver needing to take on a new Energy Store following issues at the start of the session, Formula1.com reports.

Leclerc topped the timesheets during Friday's sole practice session at the Qatar Grand Prix, comfortably leading the way from McLaren rivals Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and team mate Carlos Sainz - as their fight for the constructors' title heats up, Formula1.com reports.
