2023 Fantasy Outlook

Ocon returns to Alpine in 2023 after a relatively successful 2022 season. He finished eighth in the standings, equaling his best season performance since his first full-time season in 2017. His average finish in the 22 races was 9.1 despite an average start of 12.0. His best finish came late in the year at Suzuka. Ocon's consistent points finishes along with that fourth-place Suzuka finish late in the season demonstrate Alpine's ability to continue extracting speed throughout the course of the season. A big question for 2023 will be how much of that car development is lost with former champion Fernando Alonso leaving the team. However, a focus for Ocon personally will be improving his single-lap pace in qualifying. Crash and DNF on Lusail Circuit

Ocon crashed and finished 20th in the Qatar Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Lusail Circuit on Sunday evening.

ANALYSIS
Starting dead last in the field did not serve Ocon well under the lights at Doha. A lap 1 tangle with contact coming from Nico Hulkenberg would wreck both Ocon and Franco Colapinto in turn 1 of the opening lap. The Alpine veteran's car was too damaged to continue and his night would end in Qatar before the first lap was completed. Ocon has since been given his release from Alpine so this was the last start he'll make for the team before heading to Haas for next season.
