2023 Fantasy Outlook
After a rough start to his 2022 season, Hamilton found more challenge in competing with his teammate than the Red Bulls last year, going without a single win for the first time since joining Formula One despite finishing on the podium a total of nine times. The Mercedes engineers were hard at work attempting to fix an aero issue on Hamilton's W13 for most of the season, and the driver of the No. 44 claims that the bouncing of the car served as a major roadblock between the Brit and finishing first-place. Regardless, last year was Hamilton's first year finishing behind his teammate in the points (Lewis coming in sixth, with George Russell finishing fourth) since the same happened in 2016 with Nico Rosberg. The 2023 season will be a big year for Hamilton if he wants to make another push for the world title, with a championship run only possible if Mercedes is able to provide a car without the previous season's detrimental issues. ANALYSIS
Hamilton had a steady weekend, as he qualified seventh and finished fifth for the second consecutive race. He benefitted from the retirement of Lance Stroll, though Hamilton also encouragingly finished ahead of both Ferrari drivers. Mercedes looks well off the pace of competing for wins, but Hamilton is still tied for fourth in the driver standings after two races with 20 points.
