2023 Fantasy Outlook
Hülkenberg is eager to return to a Formula One car as a full-time driver since his departure from the series in 2019, despite his recent filling-in for Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin at the beginning of 2022. The German brings a lot of on-track experience (181 F1 starts) to Team Haas, in direct contrast to previous Haas driver and 2021 rookie Mick Schumacher, who could not quite muster up enough of a successful season last year to keep his seat with the team. In previous seasons with Renault and Force India, Hülkenberg has consistently been a Top-10 finisher, and Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner is hopeful that the driver of the No. 27 car can call on some of his previous proficiency behind the wheel to deliver a satisfactory performance for Haas in 2023. First-Career Podium
Hulkenberg finished third in the British Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Silverstone Circuit on Sunday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Hulkenberg would pull of an improbable move from 19th on the starting grid to the front of the pack in a mix of fantastic race strategy and good driving. The veteran driver started on intermediate tyres and raced all the way up to P8 for his lap 9 pit stop, just before the heavy rain began. Hulkenberg would have the luxury of staying out when everyone else headed to pit road during the lap 11 downpour. That would allow him to climb up to P5 during all those stops. The Sauber driver would hold onto that track position gained and overtake Lance Stroll to grab P3. Hulkenberg would fend off Lewis Hamilton late to secure that podium finish, his first in his 239th F1 start.
