Oscar Piastri

McLaren F1 Team
2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season. Podium at Lusail Circuit
Formula One
December 1, 2024
Piastri finished third in the Qatar Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Lusail Circuit on Sunday evening.
ANALYSIS
The McLaren youngster started P4 on the grid after a great qualifying effort. Piastri would lose a spot on the opening lap but quickly regain it on lap 5 in a great battle with Charles Leclerc. He would promote to P3 after the lap 23 pit stop by George Russell. Piastri would ride fourth after the mid-race incidents and safety cars. However, he'd promote one spot late with the Lando Norris penalty and climb into podium position down the stretch. It was Piastri's eighth podium finish of the season.
