Oscar Piastri

McLaren F1 Team
2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season. Fifth in Canadian GP
Formula One
June 10, 2024
Piastri finished fifth in the Canadian Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Piastri would stay right in the wheel tracks of Lando Norris from the lights out and he would engage in entertaining battles with both his teammate and Lewis Hamilton in the early going. The young driver would lose a spot to Kevin Magnussen in the heavy rain and slip to P5 although Piastri would get the spot back soon after as Magnussen would pit early. The McLaren youngster would pit under the lap 25 safety car and retain fourth-place until late when both Mercedes would get around him and push Piastri to a final finish of P5.
