Weekly Rankings: Week 10 Value Meter

Weekly Rankings: Week 10 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Four Teams on Bye - BAL, CIN, NE, NYJ

Sunday Update complete.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Eli Manning?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players are set to receive snaps.

Quarterbacks

1.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. JAX
2.Jalen Hurts PHI vs. WAS
3.*Justin Fields CHI vs. DET
Note: It might be an overreaction to put Fields this high, but it's hard to put him any lower after his record-breaking rushing day, considering that he gets the Lions this week.
4.Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. CLE
5.*Josh Allen BUF vs. MIN
Note: Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury (UCL) along with possible related nerve damage. His status for this week is uncertain. Case Keenum is the backup. Allen missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday. Coach Sean McDermott said that Allen is day-to-day. ***Allen took part in a limited portion of practice and is trending towards playing after all. The Bills did not activate a third quarterback from the practice squad.***
6.Geno Smith SEA at TB
7.Tom Brady TB vs. SEA
8.*Justin Herbert LAC at SF
Note: Herbert was able to get through Sunday's game without Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but it's a completely different Chargers offense right now.
9.Jimmy Garoppolo SF vs. LAC
10.Dak Prescott DAL at GB
11.Kirk Cousins MIN at BUF
12.*Trevor Lawrence JAC at KC
Note: Lawrence had another successful 'game-manager' performance in the win over the Raiders, completing 25-of-31, albeit for only 235 yards and a touchdown.
13.Daniel Jones NYG vs. HOU
14.Jared Goff DET at CHI
15.*Kyler Murray ARZ at LAR
Note: Murray was sacked five times and pressured many more in the loss to the Seahawks. Murray was held out of Wednesday's practice with a hamstring issue, but he returned Thursday. ***Murray projects to be a game-time decision on Sunday.***
16.Russell Wilson DEN at TEN
17.*Derek Carr LV vs. IND
Note: Carr had 259 passing yards against the Jaguars, but only 36 in the second half as the Raiders collapsed.
18.*Aaron Rodgers GB vs. DAL
Note: Rodgers (thumb) sat out again on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday. ***Rodgers was cleared from the injury report on Friday.***
19.*Taylor Heinicke WAS at PHI
Note: The Heinicke Era of Good Feelings crashed to a halt in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Vikings upon an awful interception which has been so typical of his professional career.
20.Marcus Mariota ATL at CAR
21.Jacoby Brissett CLE at MIA
22.*PJ Walker CAR vs. ATL
Note: Walker will start Thursday against the Falcons despite getting benched at halftime of Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
23.*John Wolford LA vs. ARI
Note: Could be in line to start for Matthew Stafford (concussion).
24.*Ryan Tannehill TEN vs. DEN
Note: Tannehill (ankle) went down to a game-time decision before not being able to go Sunday night. Tannehill was listed as a full participant in practice Thursday. ****Tannehill practice all week and should be in line to start.***
25.*Andy Dalton NO at PIT
Note: Prime Time Dalton struck again Monday night against the Ravens. Only a late, fluky touchdown semi-salvaged his day.
26.Davis Mills HOU at NYG
27.Kenny Pickett PIT vs. NO
28.*Sam Ehlinger IND at LV
Note: Ehlinger will remain the starting quarterback under new coach Jeff Saturday, which is probably reflective of owner Jim Irsay's plans all along. Matt Ryan (shoulder) has started practicing but Ehlinger will start again this week. ***Ryan will be the backup.***
29.*Case Keenum BUF vs. MIN
Note: Keenum is the backup in case Josh Allen (elbow) can't go. Allen has missed the first two practices of the week. ***Allen only had a limited practice Friday, but it appears that might be enough, based on recent reports.***
30.*Colt McCoy ARZ at LAR
Note: ***McCoy is the Cardinals' backup in case Kyler Murray (hamstring) can't play.***
31.*Malik Willis TEN vs. DEN
Note: Willis completed just five of his 16 passing attempts in Sunday night's loss to the Chiefs. He did have eight carries for 40 yards. ***It appears that Ryan Tannehill will be able to play this week.***
32.*Matthew Stafford LA vs. ARI
Note: Stafford is in the concussion protocol. He did not practice Thursday, though he was present at practice. I'm ranking him as if he won't play, with John Wolford starting in his place. ***Stafford is officially listed as questionable, but he's not expected to play.***
33.*Baker Mayfield CAR vs. ATL
Note: Mayfield came in after halftime and led the Panthers to three scoring drives in their blowout loss to the Bengals, but PJ Walker will start again this week.
34.Lamar Jackson BAL at
35.Mac Jones NE at
36.Zach Wilson NYJ at

Running Backs

1.Christian McCaffrey SF vs. LAC
2.Saquon Barkley NYG vs. HOU
3.Nick Chubb CLE at MIA
4.Austin Ekeler LAC at SF
5.Dalvin Cook MIN at BUF
6.Derrick Henry TEN vs. DEN
7.Kenneth Walker SEA at TB
8.Alvin Kamara NO at PIT
9.*Travis Etienne JAC at KC
Note: Etienne had a whopping 28 carries against the Raiders, though he was less involved in the passing game than usual.
10.*Aaron Jones GB vs. DAL
Note: Jones was seen with a walking boot to protect his ankle after the loss to the Lions, but x-rays were negative and he 'should be able to play this week.' Jones has participated in two limited practices so far this week. I'm going to wait until after the Friday practice reports to move him back up - it won't be as high as he usually lands even if he practices fully Friday. ***Jones was limited all week, but then was cleared from the injury list on Friday.***
11.Josh Jacobs LV vs. IND
12.*Tony Pollard DAL at GB
Note: Teammate Ezekiel Elliott (knee) didn't practice Monday. ***Elliott is questionable for Sunday, but while he seems on track to play, he might be limited.***
13.*Jonathan Taylor IND at LV
Note: Taylor (ankle) had a limited practice Wednesday and then a full practice Thursday. ***Taylor has officially been cleared from the injury report.***
14.Jamaal Williams DET at CHI
15.Miles Sanders PHI vs. WAS
16.*Dameon Pierce HOU at NYG
Note: Pierce (chest/shoulder) has had two limited practices so far this week. It's possible that he gets a slightly smaller workload this week. ***Pierce was cleared from the injury list after a full practice Friday.***
17.*Cordarrelle Patterson ATL at CAR
Note: Patterson split the workload with Tyler Allgeier, but got the goal line love.
18.Antonio Gibson WAS at PHI
19.*Leonard Fournette TB vs. SEA
Note: Fournette really struggled on the ground, though he was more productive (5-7-41) in the passing game.
20.*D'Onta Foreman CAR vs. ATL
Note: A negative came script crushed Foreman's value last week. This week's game on Thursday should prove to be better. Chuba Hubbard will be back this week.
21.Najee Harris PIT vs. NO
22.Raheem Mostert MIA vs. CLE
23.David Montgomery CHI vs. DET
24.Devin Singletary BUF vs. MIN
25.*James Conner ARZ at LAR
Note: Conner had 12 touches in his return to action, though the returns were underwhelming.
26.Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC vs. JAX
27.Khalil Herbert CHI vs. DET
28.*AJ Dillon GB vs. DAL
Note: Aaron Jones still might play this week, which would likely push Dillon back down to the low-to-mid 30's. I'll adjust accordingly after the Friday practice reports.
29.*Ezekiel Elliott DAL at GB
Note: Elliott (knee) did not practice Monday. He said that the swelling in his knee went down during the bye week. Elliott was limited both Wednesday and Thursday, but with some increase of activity on Thursday. ***Elliott is listed as questionable, and reports suggest that he's on track to play. However, the Cowboys did call up Qadree Ollison from the practice squad.***
30.*D'Andre Swift DET at CHI
Note: Swift 'did not suffer any setbacks' in Sunday's win over the Packers, but he had fewer snaps than Justin Jackson in a close game. Swift is still having his practice reps capped. ***Swift was cleared from the injury list on Friday, and coach Dan Campbell said that he 'hoped to give Swift a little bit more' work this week.
31.Kareem Hunt CLE at MIA
32.*Tyler Allgeier ATL at CAR
Note: Allgeier still saw a decent workload after Cordarrelle Patterson returned, though Patterson got the touchdown carries.
33.Jeff Wilson MIA vs. CLE
34.Brian Robinson WAS at PHI
35.Melvin Gordon DEN at TEN
36.Darrell Henderson LA vs. ARI
37.Alexander Mattison MIN at BUF
38.*Eno Benjamin ARZ at LAR
Note: Benjamin was limited to four carries with James Conner returning.
39.Nyheim Hines BUF vs. MIN
40.*Rachaad White TB vs. SEA
Note: Starting to cut into Leonard Fournette's time - he had eight carries and three catches in the win over the Rams.
41.*Rex Burkhead HOU at NYG
Note: Teammate Dameon Pierce has been limited so far this week.
42.Boston Scott PHI vs. WAS
43.*Jaylen Warren PIT vs. NO
Note: Warren hasn't been getting any extra reps in practice, undermining the notion that he might cut more into Najee Harris's playing time. Then again, if that were going to happen, do you think the Steelers would tell us?
44.Isiah Pacheco KC vs. JAX
45.*Chuba Hubbard CAR vs. ATL
Note: Hubbard (ankle) sat out last week, but he practiced fully on Tuesday. Hubbard had another full practice Wednesday and is expected to play Thursday night.
46.*Cam Akers LA vs. ARI
Note: Akers had five carries for two yards against the Bucs, while teammate Darrell Henderson reclaimed the lead back role.
47.*Kyren Williams LA vs. ARI
Note: Coach Sean McVay said that Williams (ankle) has a good shot to play Sunday. ***Williams has been activated from IR and could be a big factor on passing downs.***
48.*Elijah Mitchell SF vs. LAC
Note: Mitchell (knee) was designated to return from the IR on Monday by the 49ers, which allows him to return to practice. ***The Niners activated Mitchell (knee) from injured reserve Saturday, and he's likely to be Christian McCaffrey's backup.***
49.*Jerick McKinnon KC vs. JAX
Note: ***McKinnon is listed as questionable with shoulder, knee and hamstring injuries.***
50.Caleb Huntley ATL at CAR
51.JaMycal Hasty JAC at KC
52.Chase Edmonds DEN at TEN
53.*Isaiah Spiller LAC at SF
Note: Spiller saw more work than Sony Michel last week - sneakily becoming an example of a rookie getting a bump after the bye week.
54.Latavius Murray DEN at TEN
55.James Cook BUF vs. MIN
56.Keaontay Ingram ARZ at LAR
57.Kenneth Gainwell PHI vs. WAS
58.*Zack Moss IND at LV
Note: ***I'm not sure if Moss will be the top backup for Jonathan Taylor. Deon Jackson is out, but the team also activated Jordan Wilkins from the practice squad.***
59.*Dontrell Hilliard TEN vs. DEN
Note: Hilliard (groin) was limited Wednesday but had a full practice Thursday.
60.*Jordan Wilkins IND at LV
Note: ***The Colts once again activated Wilkins from their practice squad.***
61.Dwayne Washington NO at PIT
62.Raheem Blackshear CAR vs. ATL
63.*Kylin Hill GB vs. DAL

64.D'Ernest Johnson CLE at MIA
65.*Sony Michel LAC at SF
Note: Losing snaps and carries to Isaiah Spiller.
66.*Deon Jackson IND at LV
Note: Jackson briefly left with what appeared to be a knee injury but later returned. Of as much concern was the total ineptitude of the Colts' offense. Jackson has missed two practices so far this week. ***Jackson has been ruled out this week.***
67.*J.D. McKissic WAS at PHI
Note: McKissic (neck) didn't practice Thursday. ***Ruled out for Monday night.***
