FanDuel Fantasy Football: Player Ownership Percentages – Week 8

FanDuel Fantasy Football: Player Ownership Percentages – Week 8

This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.

The key to performing well in large Guaranteed Price Pool (GPP) tournaments on FanDuel is identifying which players will perform well and not be highly owned. Going hand-in-hand with that approach, you should fade players that are highly owned, and it certainly helps if these highly owned players put together bad performances. Projecting player ownership can be difficult; however, FanDuel runs tournaments on Thursday with lineups that lock through the rest of the week. Using player ownership percentages in the Thursday NFL Bomb is a very good indicator of what to expect in the Sunday GPP's.

Below, each position has a table with players' salaries, RotoWire's Week 8 Rankings, ownership percentages and a graph showing the distribution of ownership by salary.

Quarterbacks

Russell Wilson will be the highest owned quarterback this week, followed by Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers and Carson Palmer. Drew Brees looks like a good play at only 3.7 percent owned and our No. 3 quarterback this week. He is playing at home, in what should be a high scoring game.

Running Backs

Jerick McKinnon will be the highest owned running back this week. His very low price will be tough to avoid, but don't use him in every GPP. I really like Justin Forsett at only 6 percent owned; I really thought he would be at least 15 percent owned this week. Chris Ivory (I like how FanDuel calls him Christopher) is coming off a big game, but he's still pretty cheap and not very highly owned.

Wide Receivers

Jordy Nelson has the highest salary and he will be the most owned player this week. A few players that I like with low ownerships are Jeremy Maclin, Alshon Jeffery and Vincent Jackson.

Tight Ends

Jordan Reed will be the highest owned tight end this week by a large margin. His low price and high ceiling is too appealing to totally fade. Owen Daniels looks like a good option, but his ceiling is pretty limited.

Kickers

Pick a cheap one and hope you get lucky. Our rankings have Randy Bullock as the best of the cheap options.

Defenses

The Cowboys and Jets will be very heavily owned this week. The Ravens should be a good play at less than 1 percent owned and our third ranked defense this week.
