2022 Fantasy Outlook
Mims has struggled since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Baylor. He had 357 yards as a rookie and just 133 last season and is still searching for his first NFL touchdown. he 6-foot-3, 207-pound receiver is reportedly in the best shape of his life coming into camp, but Mims will have to battle just to secure a depth spot on the Jets. ANALYSIS
He finishes the season with 11 catches for 186 yards on 25 targets. Since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Mims has yet to score a touchdown in 30 career games. He received opportunities earlier in the season when the Jets dealt with injuries to other wideouts but struggled to do much with his chances while battling drops. It's hard to describe Mims as anything but a bust at this point, and given that he doesn't contribute on special teams, the 25-year-old wide receiver will be a candidate to get cut in training camp this summer barring a noticeable improvement during the Jets' offseason program.

Hamstring injuries delayed Mims’ NFL debut until Week 7 last season, but he saw consistent targets for the next six games, eclipsing 40 yards in each. A foot injury and a concussion ruined the latter part of his year, but all things considered — poor quarterback play, short ramp-up time and injuries — Mims had a credible rookie season. At 6-3, 207, and with a 4.38 40, Mims profiles as a downfield playmaker and red-zone threat. He’s still a little raw, though, and he’ll have to battle for targets with newly signed wide receiver Corey Davis and rookie slot man Elijah Moore. That said, Mims has a good chance to start outside opposite Davis and has the physical skills to be a star should the team receive adequate quarterback play from rookie first-round pick Zach Wilson.
Drafted with the 59th overall pick, Mims could vie with Breshad Perriman before long to be the team's top outside wideout. At 6-3, 207, and running a 4.38 40, Mims has the physical and athletic profile to be a No. 1 NFL receiver. He's not especially quick, though, and his route running needs work, which is probably why he went in the late second rather than in the first round. Jamison Crowder might lead the team in targets out of the slot, and Perriman was signed to be the team's downfield threat, so Mims isn't assured much as a rookie. But none of those players is a formidable obstacle should Mims surprise with his readiness at the next level. Of course, Mims' outlook, like that of his fellow receivers, depends as well on the progress of third-year quarterback Sam Darnold.
