The Dolphins claimed Swain off waivers from the Broncos on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Swain opened the 2022 season on Miami's practice squad and appeared in one game for the club before Denver signed him in December. After Denver cut Swain on Tuesday, the 24-year-old will now rejoin the Dolphins for his second stint with the team. In 37 career regular-season games, Swain has recorded 42 catches for 576 yards and six touchdowns. The bulk of that production came while he was with the Seahawks in 2020 and 2021.

2020
Swain broke a couple of big plays in his second NFL season in 2021, as he finished with a 25-343-4 line through 17 games in addition to serving as the team's punt returner. Most importantly, he held off rookie second-round pick Dee Eskridge, who struggled with a concussion to start the year. Swain again will have to perform well in training camp to keep the No. 3 role, and he could face additional competition from 2022 seventh-rounder Bo Melton in addition to Eskridge and free-agent signing Marquise Goodwin. Even if he wins the job outright, the opportunity isn't relevant for fantasy purposes now that Russell Wilson is in Denver and both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett appear to be staying put.
Swain handled the No. 4 wide receiver duties last season behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and David Moore. The 2020 sixth-round pick recorded 13 receptions for 159 yards and two scores over 16 games. Moore left for Carolina in free agency, but the Seahawks selected D'Wayne Eskridge in the second round. Swain has some chemistry with Wilson, but Eskridge's draft capital means he should get plenty of work. It'll be tough to trust Swain as a fantasy contributor unless an injury pops up ahead of him on the depth chart.
The Seahawks nabbed Swain in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft after the 6-foot, 197-pound wideout completed his senior season at Florida. Swain finished third on the team in receptions (38) and receiving yards (517) in 2019, and he registered a team-high seven receiving touchdowns -- ahead of eventual second-round pick Van Jefferson (six). Combine that with his 4.46 speed and the 22-year-old Swain has a reasonable shot at making the final roster, although his path to meaningful playing time would likely entail an injury to a starter.
