The Jets waived Nasirildeen (neck) from injured reserve Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Nasirildeen sustained a neck injury during the Hall of Fame game against the Browns in the preseason and was placed on IR on Aug. 7. He was set to miss the entire season, but now that he's been released from the team, the 2021 sixth-round pick could land on another roster once he's fully recovered from his injury.

Nasirildeen played primarily on special teams as a rookie after being drafted in the sixth round out of Florida State, totaling a modest 10 tackles in 12 games. He was a safety in college but converted to linebacker at the NFL level. New York's lack of linebacker depth could allow Nasirildeen to see significant playing time in his second season if he shows that he's successfully adjusted to his new position.
Nasirildeen was a tackling machine at Florida State, and the big-bodied safety has the skill set to switch to linebacker in passing situations. How much the rookie sixth-round pick will see the field is in question, but he's a nice depth option for defensive-minded Jets coach Robert Saleh.
