Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Butker missed four games last season and went just 2-of-5 on tries of 50-plus yards, but he was otherwise his usual effective self, missing just one field-goal attempt inside of 50. He was also perfect in the playoffs for a second straight year, boosting his career postseason marks to 90.0 percent for field goals and 95.7 percent for extra points (across 22 games). Butker is still one of the league's best kickers, playing for one of the league's best teams, so there's still a solid floor for fantasy as well as hope for a return to top-5 production among kickers. Connects on three field goals
Butker went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts but missed his lone extra-point try during the Chiefs' 27-21 loss to the Chargers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs' offense struggled in the first half, but Butker helped his team get on the board with a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter before connecting on a 59-yard try as the first half came to a close. The veteran kicker capped things off by converting on a 27-yard chip shot late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't a perfect night for him after his extra-point try in the third missed wide right. Butker attempted just 25 field-goal attempts in 2024 but was limited to 13 regular-season games due to a left knee injury. As long as the Chiefs are led by Patrick Mahomes, Butker's floor should be one of the highest among kickers on a week-to-week basis.

Butker ranks second to only Justin Tucker in career FG percentage (89.1) and has ranked Top 10 at his position in fantasy scoring five times in seven pro seasons. Butker's list of clutch kicks in the playoffs puts him in Adam Vinatieri range, and his consistent work in the regular season includes a 70 percent conversion rate on tries of 50-plus yards. The Chiefs tend to be good at converting scoring chances into TDs rather than field goals, but that wasn't the case in 2023 (19th in red-zone TD rate) and coach Andy Reid has never been particularly aggressive with his fourth-down and two-point decisions. In other words, Butker is the safest kicker choice after Tucker, with not much gap between the two.

Focusing on better sleep
Butker said he has focused on bettering his sleep quality to help improve his kicking, Dan Pompei of The Athletic reports. "If I want to be the best kicker in the world, then sleep is important," Butker told Pompei. "I'm trying to find the smallest things that make a difference."
