Pierre-Paul was waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Pierre-Paul joined Miami on Nov. 27 when he was signed off the Saints' practice squad. The 34-year-old suited up twice with the squad, seeing just five snaps on defense, eight on special teams and failing to record any stats. He'll likely now work to find a new opportunity or perhaps sign with the Dolphins' practice squad once he clears waivers.

If Pierre-Paul progresses to leaping tall buildings in a single bound this coming season, it would be of little surprise. The veteran pass rusher has already proven seemingly indestructible after coming back from two considerably serious injuries during his career - a 2015 fireworks accident that led to the loss of his right index finger and a massive car wreck in May 2019 in which he sustained a fractured vertebrae. Pierre-Paul didn't make his 2019 season debut until Week 8 versus the Titans due to the latter, but he finished with 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles over 10 games despite having to acclimate to a new defensive scheme without the benefit of training camp or preseason. The 31-year-old will be almost a year and a half removed from his aforementioned car accident by the projected start of the 2020 season, and with a presumably much better grasp of coordinator Todd Bowles' defense, he could be primed for an explosive IDP effort in the coming campaign.

Hoping to resume NFL career
Pierre-Paul is hoping to play in the NFL in 2025, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Paul didn't play in the 2024 season and was limited to only three games in the 2023 regular season, split between the Saints and the Dolphins. The pass rusher's best days are likely behind him at age 36, but Pierre-Paul believes he could still contribute if given a chance at the NFL level. He has 94.5 sacks in 182 career regular-season games played.
