Smartest receiver in the class?
WRTampa Bay Buccaneers
May 20, 2023
In an interview with Matt Matera of Pewter Report on Friday, Warner believes that his football IQ separates himself from the other receivers in the 2023 Draft class.
ANALYSIS
Warner, the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, transferred to Kansas State after three years in Nebraska, where he recorded 60 catches, 622 yards and five touchdowns in 22 games for the Wildcats. Warner signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent and is expected to fill in as a slot receiver and special teams player. Despite not being drafted, Warner is taking "everything personally," using his undrafted status to work hard and separate himself as "the smartest receiver in this draft class." The Bucs have strong depth at the receiver position with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage as the top three options, but a strong training camp could give Warner an opportunity to stick on the Bucs' active roster.
