2024 Fantasy Outlook
Selected in the second round of the 2024 Draft, Kneeland appeared headed for a rotational edge rusher role, but the Cowboys may need him to handle more snaps than anticipated after losing Sam Williams for the season to a torn ACL. Kneeland has impressive athleticism and should be effective against the run as a rookie, but his pass-rushing skills are raw and his production at Western Michigan doesn't suggest he'll make an immediate impact in the NFL. Window opens
Kneeland (knee) has been designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kneeland suffered a partially torn lateral meniscus in early October and had a four- to six-week recovery timeline. With six weeks now passed, the Western Michigan product appears to be on the verge of returning. He will have a 21-day window to practice with the team before needing to be placed back on the active roster, however, he could return as soon as Sunday against the Commanders, if he's healthy enough to do so.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Low ceiling as edge rusher
Kneeland is likely to find more success inside and doesn't have the pass-rushing skills to develop into an elite edge, according to one NFL executive, Mike Sando of The Athletic reports. "He is not like Danielle Hunter or Everson Griffen or any of those guys, but he can be a good piece," the executive said of Kneeland.
ANALYSIS
The executive compared Kneeland to former Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers, who exceeded 3.5 sacks only once in his 11-year career. Kneeland was selected 56th overall by the Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he's unlikely to get many pass-rushing opportunities in a defense that has Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Sam Williams at defensive end.
