2025 Fantasy Outlook
A second-round selection in 2024 out of Western Michigan, Kneeland played only 11 regular-season games as a rookie due to a knee injury that required surgery in October, and he failed to record a sack. The Cowboys' pass rush is built around Micah Parsons, and if Kneeland is healthy he could take a big step forward in Year 2 against very distracted protection schemes. The time he lost didn't help his efforts to develop the skills necessary to fully tap into his physical tools, however. Read Past Outlooks
Not playing Week 5
Kneeland (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Kneeland saw his practice participation decrease over the week due to an ankle injury, culminating in a DNP on Friday. The injury will keep him sidelined Sunday for the first time this season, and his absence means James Houston and veteran Jadeveon Clowney will both see more snaps at defensive end in rotation with starters Sam Williams and Dante Fowler.

Selected in the second round of the 2024 Draft, Kneeland appeared headed for a rotational edge rusher role, but the Cowboys may need him to handle more snaps than anticipated after losing Sam Williams for the season to a torn ACL. Kneeland has impressive athleticism and should be effective against the run as a rookie, but his pass-rushing skills are raw and his production at Western Michigan doesn't suggest he'll make an immediate impact in the NFL.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Low ceiling as edge rusher
Kneeland is likely to find more success inside and doesn't have the pass-rushing skills to develop into an elite edge, according to one NFL executive, Mike Sando of The Athletic reports. "He is not like Danielle Hunter or Everson Griffen or any of those guys, but he can be a good piece," the executive said of Kneeland.
ANALYSIS
The executive compared Kneeland to former Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers, who exceeded 3.5 sacks only once in his 11-year career. Kneeland was selected 56th overall by the Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he's unlikely to get many pass-rushing opportunities in a defense that has Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Sam Williams at defensive end.
