Duggan was waived by the Chargers on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Duggan was selected in the seventh round by Los Angeles in the 2023 NFL Draft. After not making the team's initial 53-man roster, the TCU product spent the 2023 campaign on the team's practice squad. Duggan's departure leaves Easton Stick and Luis Perez behind starter Justin Herbert on the team's quarterback depth chart.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
Duggan didn't make the Chargers' 53-man roster out of training camp, but the 2023 seventh-rounder did stick around on the practice squad and ultimately received a few call ups to back up Easton Stick after Justin Herbert missed the final four games of last year's campaign due to injury. The Chargers have prioritized a mobile signal-caller as a backup for years, and it appears as if Duggan and Stick will once again compete for slotting behind Herbert in Year 1 of the Jim Harbaugh regime.
Duggan earned national acclaim after breaking out his senior year, leading TCU to a spot in the 2022 National Championship. While the 21-year-old accounted for a bit over 4,000 total yards and a sterling 41:8 TD:turnover ratio in his final collegiate season, Duggan was otherwise a mundane passer for TCU and was benched during his junior campaign. A bit undersized at 6-2, 207 pounds, Duggan will have to fight for a spot on the 53-man roster and is likely a long shot to beat out Easton Stick for the top backup job.

Duggan intends to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft, Brett McMurphy of Action Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Duggan will declare for the draft after TCU finishes its run in the College Football Playoff. The senior quarterback has been instrumental to his team's success this season, posting a 30:4 TD:INT while throwing for more than 3,000 yards. Duggan finished second in 2022 Heisman Trophy voting behind USC's Caleb Williams, who won't be eligible for the NFL Draft until 2024.
