Meinerz signed a four-year, $80 million contract this offseason as he was entering the final year of his rookie deal. The 26-year-old has proven to be one of the league's top guards, so Denver was wise to take care of his contract before he could hit free agency. Meinerz will look to continue his solid play and be a foundational piece of an offense that hopes to take a step forward in 2024.
Meinerz enters his third season season in Denver hoping to take a step forward after a 2022 campaign in which he missed some time due to hamstring and eye injuries. Looking forward, the 24-year-old is poised to start at right guard for the Broncos as the team looks to rebuild its offensive attack in 2023.
The third-round selection in this year's draft will compete with incumbent starter Lloyd Cushenberry for the starting center spot. So far this offseason, Meinerz has been praised by fellow Denver offensive linemen. Even if the rookie doesn't earn the starting role, it is plausible that Meinerz will carve out a role as a backup for the team's interior offensive line positions.

ANALYSIS
A third-round pick in 2021, Meinerz has started 39 games over his first three seasons and distinguished himself as an above-average pass and run blocker that's still improving. The Wisconsin-Whitewater product did suffer a cardiac scare during a Week 14 win over the Chargers last season, but he was eventually cleared after spending the night in a Los Angeles hospital.
