2023 Fantasy Outlook
McSorley, who was with Arizona since the second half of the 2021 season, now figures to serve as the Patriots' third-stringer behind Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. The 2019 sixth-rounder appeared in six games (one start) with the Cardinals last year, completing 45 of 83 pass attempts for 412 yards, no touchdowns and five interceptions while also adding 61 yards on 15 rushes. If injuries press McSorley into action, the 6-0, 202-pounder's mobility would add another wrinkle to the team's attack, but the 27-year-old has limitations as a passer. Read Past Outlooks

Let go by New England
The Patriots have released McSorley, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
With McSorley no longer in the mix, the Patriots' QB corps is led by Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, with Malik Cunningham still currently on the roster as final cut downs approach. Per Callahan, McSorley is a candidate to resurface on New England's practice squad if he doesn't catch on elsewhere.

Bill Belichick brought back Bill O'Brien to the Patriots as offensive coordinator with the aim to get QB Mac Jones' trajectory pointing upward again. Even so, the AFC East may be too tough for Ws to follow.

2019
After joining the Cardinals last November, McSorley was a healthy scratch or didn't play in the team's final six games of the regular season and then the wild-card loss to the Rams. Prior to his stint in Arizona, he made three appearances for the Ravens between 2019 and 2020, completing three of 10 passes and running six times for 18 yards. With Colt McCoy on IR to begin this season, McSorley will serve as Kyler Murray's backup for at least the first four games.
