2025 Fantasy Outlook
One of the most accurate players in the LIV Golf League, the 33-year-old Ancer captured his first LIV Golf trophy of his career in March after outlasting Paul Casey and Cameron Smith in a playoff in Hong Kong. Ancer followed up that victory with three consecutive top-10 finishes in LIV Golf tournaments, and he finished the year 12th in the individual season standings. Ancer earned a spot at The Open after advancing through Final Qualifying and finished T53 at Royal Troon, which marked the fourth consecutive year he has made the cut in golf’s oldest major. Ancer doesn’t have exemptions for any of the four majors in 2025 and will either have to qualify or earn an invitation. Read Past Outlooks
Tied for 10th at LIV Golf Singapore
March 16, 2025
Ancer carded a two-under 69 in the final round at LIV Golf Singapore to finish tied for 10th.
ANALYSIS
Ancer started out strong with a four-under 67 first round, but he went three-under over the final two rounds, and he ended Sunday with a double bogey on the par-4 third hole that prevented him from finishing in the top-5. Ancer ranked top-10 in the field in driving accuracy, scrambling and putting, but he finished in the bottom of the field in GIR (66.67 percent - T31). Ancer is ninth in the LIV Golf individual season standings with 39.41 points heading into Miami in three weeks time, where he finished T9 in 2024.

Outside of qualifying for the two Opens, Ancer will not play in a PGA Tour event in 2024.
At No. 25 OWGR as of this writing, Ancer should stay inside the top-50 at year's end and qualify for the Masters.
While it's reasonable to call 2020-21 a season full of surprises, it could also be considering the year of the breakthrough win. Ancer was one of many players that picked up either their first win on the PGA Tour or a win that was a long time coming. In Ancer's case, he was in his 5th full season on the PGA Tour and he'd had plenty of success, including three runner-up finishes, but that win proved elusive. That changed in August at the St. Jude Invitational. That win turned what was already a solid season into a spectacular one. Ancer should continue to improve, and getting that win in 2020-21 is bound to help him the next time he's in contention. The future is bright for Ancer, and for draft leagues he might be a late-1st-round pick, but in salary cap leagues he's just too expensive this season.
Ancer has made quite the impression in his first three years on the PGA Tour. Although he's been unable to find a victory in his short time on the PGA Tour, he's put himself in contention on several occasions. Even though this past season was shortened by the pandemic, Ancer managed to post a career high in earnings. HIs number is set pretty high for this season and if you take him, it'll be based all on potential, but Ancer looks like someone who could continue to improve for the foreseeable future.
Ancer ended the 2017-2018 with a flurry and he picked-up right where he left off to start the 2018-2019 season. When the calendar flipped to 2019, he lost a little steam, but he managed to play well here and there on his way to a career high in earnings. This past season was just his third on the PGA Tour and Ancer is yet to find a win, but it's only a matter of time. His number for this season is reasonable and he's definitely worth a look in salary cap formats as he should continue to improve this year.
To say Ancer's career on the PGA Tour got off to a slow start, would be an understatement. Ancer missed the cut in his first nine starts in 2016 and although he went on to make the cut in six of his last 10 starts that season, he never found his footing. His second time around, however, went much better. Although he didn't miss his first nine cuts last season, he did get off to a bit of a slow start with only one top-25 in his first seven starts. Ancer, however, did more than find his footing over the final couple months of the season as he posted three top-10s in his final eight starts. Two of those were top-5s where he actually contended. Ancer held the 54-hole lead at the Dell Technologies Championship and although he faltered in the final round, it should end up being a quality learning experience. Ancer looks like the real deal and he should continue to improve, but how much he'll improve this season is the question. He's got some upside, but at this price, there's plenty of risk as well.
Ancer's rookie campaign on the PGA Tour during the 2015-16 season didn't go as planned, missing 13 of 19 cuts to ultimately finish 190th in the FedExCup standings and lose his card as a result. A solid bounceback effort on the Web.com Tour this past season included 18 of 23 made cuts and seven top-10s, placing third on the regular season money list and re-earning his PGA Tour card for 2017-18. Another bright spot for Ancer included a made cut during his lone start at the PGA Tour level, posting a T55 at the OHL Classic in November of 2016.
