The South African becomes a PGA Tour rookie at just 20 years old, having won the Korn Ferry Tour's Great Abaco Classic as a 19-year-old back in January of 2024 before ultimatley finishing the KFT season with three top-10s and five top-25s. First PGA Tour title at age 20

Potgieter took a two-shot lead into the final round looking for his first PGA Tour win. It was a battle on Sunday with six birdies and three bogeys, but it was enough to get him to a playoff at 22-under-par. After dodging some bullets on the first few playoff holes, Potgieter finally poured in a putt on the fifth extra hole for birdie to take the title in Detroit. The South African is the longest hitter on the PGA Tour, but this week he showed that the rest of his game can be pretty strong too. The 20-year-old has a big future in the game and getting over the hump at such a young age will be great for his confidence and development. Potgieter moves up to 36th in the FedExCup standings and will look to keep things rolling at the John Deere Classic next week.
