Taylor's comeback to the PGA Tour, after spending a year on the Korn Ferry Tour, was a story of two halves. He started out well with four top-10s by April, but he never recorded a top-25 thereafter and missed nine of his last 16 cuts. The Englishman struggled heavily with his ball striking, losing over half a stroke per round off the tee and on approach combined. On top of that, his short game is average at best, leaving little optimism for his chances of maintaing his card for another season without some serious improvements across the board.
The 30-year-old Englishman used runner-up finishes at the Huntsville Championship and the Pinnacle Bank Championship to guide him to a final standing of ninth in the 2022 KFT Regular Season Eligibility Points List. Taylor added a fifth-place effort at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship during the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, and he ended the season ranked 10th on the KFT in total birdies. He appeared in 36 total PGA Tour events from 2019 to 2021, but Taylor posted only two top-25 results along the way.
The LSU product's rookie campaign didn't go quite as planned as Taylor missed 13 cuts in 17 starts and didn't even make six figures in official money. He lost strokes in every SG subcategory despite finishing the season 48th in GIR percentage. At just 171st in total driving and 176th in SG: Tee-to-Green, it's hard to see Taylor making much of a jump in the immediate future.
Taylor's T2 during the Korn Ferry Tour Finals at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship may have been an anomaly as he otherwise missed the cut in four of his last five starts to end the season, but four consecutive sub-70 scores in Columbus, OH were good enough to earn the Englishman a PGA Tour card as he'll now become a rookie at the next level. Taylor, who played his college golf stateside at LSU, ranked outside of the top-100 in ball striking on the KFT in 2019.
