Cam Davis

29-Year-Old Golfer
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The 2024 season was a bit of a mixed bag for Davis as his earnings number dropped by 20%, but he did pick up his second PGA Tour win. Though he picked up his first win on the PGA Tour in 2021, it was his 2023 season that was the real break through. Davis topped $5 million in earnings that season behind eight top-10s. This past season saw a massive drop in consistency as Davis could only muster two top-10s, but a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic saved what would have been a fairly disappointing season. Davis is just 30 and he should be nearing his peak, so there's no reason to panic, but with only one high-level consistent season under his belt, we have to wonder where his ceiling is. Bid to East Lake falls short
August 25, 2024
Davis fired a six-under 66 in the final round of the BMW Championship to finish in a tie for fifth place.
ANALYSIS
Davis needed to make something happen in Denver after he just snuck into the field with a solid showing in Memphis. He wasn't able to do much in the first three rounds, but caught fire on Sunday and fired the second-best round of the day. Unfortunately a four-way tie for fifth wasn't enough jumping him only to 36th in the FedExCup standings. Davis led the field in total birdies with 24, but two double-bogeys and a triple-bogey this week cost him a chance at adding another trophy to his Rocket Mortgage Classic title he won earlier this summer.

Davis struggled to find consistency this past season, but he picked his spots well. Davis posted top-five finishes at the PGA Championship and the PLAYERS Championship as well as top-10s at six other events throughout the season. The end result was his best season on the PGA Tour. Davis had a concerning stretch where he missed 7-of-8 cuts, but he managed to right the ship. Considering he topped $5 million in earnings without the benefit of a win, his upside seems to be quite high. As such, Davis makes for an interesting salary cap selection this season.
Unlike many of the young PGA Tour players of this era, Davis didn't come out firing during his rookie season of 2018-2019. In fact, it took Davis a couple years to find a groove, but now that he has, it looks like he's going to be around for a while. Davis didn't make quite as much in 2021-22 versus the previous season, but that's just because he didn't win. He actually went up to five top-10's and eight top-25's, while also posting a better strokes gained total ranking of 52nd. There's a lot to like about the young Aussie's game going forward. He ended the season making 10 straight cuts with six top-16 finishes. Look out for this man in 2022-23.
Davis entered the PGA Tour in 2019 with a lot of hype and through his first two years, he failed to live up to that hype, but last year that changed. Davis was in the midst of a decent season when July came around, but a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic instantly turned a decent season into a great one. Davis didn't accomplish much after that win however and that's certainly a disappointment, but better things appear to be on the horizon. His number is pretty high entering this season, but he's still potentially a solid salary cap selection this year.
Davis came tantalizingly close to cracking the top-70; instead, he finished 84th - still his best season on Tour. He had two top-10s and four top-25s, but he made only 11 of 20 cuts. That's where he should improve as he gets more comfortable on Tour.
Davis was a rookie on the PGA Tour in 2018-19, and although he played well in spots, he never found any consistency and ended up outside the top 150 on the FedEx Points list. He played well enough down the stretch, however, to earn his card for the this season by finishing in the top 25 on the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. It's not uncommon for young golfers to struggle in their first attempt on the PGA Tour, and with a year under his belt, expect Davis to show some improvement this season.
Long, lanky and 23-years old, Davis made a splash in his first Web.com season by winning the Nashville Open and posting three other top-3 finishes. After a T3 at the Web.com Tour Championship, Davis sealed the deal by earning his first PGA Tour card. David was top-10 in driving distance, greens in regulation and putting average on the Web.com Tour in 2017-18, so expect that well-rounded game to fare well on the PGA Tour. There's plenty of upside but it may take a couple years before he posts a $1 million season on the PGA Tour.
