2025 Fantasy Outlook
Grillo has spent the majority of his career hanging right around the top-70 with the exception of two seasons where he somehow cracked the top-15 at season's end. 2023 was one of those seasons where he landed in the top-15, but he failed to build upon that success in 2024. While his salary cap number is lower because of this, there are some injury concerns heading into 2025. Grillo was slated to play several tournaments in October, but managed to finish just one. The injury was not disclosed, but it did cause him to miss 2-3 events in October. This undisclosed injury may have led to his lack of success throughout the 2024 season, which would normally lead to a positive recommendation as a salary cap play for the upcoming season, but with little information on his injury and if he'll be healthy to start the year, it's impossible to recommend him in salary cap leagues this season. Consistent play at Oakmont
Grillo carded a final round three-over 73 Sunday to finish in a tie for 19th at Oakmont in the U.S. Open.
ANALYSIS
Grillo came to Oakmont with three straight top-25 finishes under his belt thanks to some good ball striking and iron play. So it is fitting that Grillo was able to gather another top-25 finish at Oakmont. While his approach play wasn't as strong as it has been in recent weeks, the rest of his game showed some improvement compared to recent weeks and allowed him to gain strokes on the field in other areas. In fact, for the week, Grillo on average made small gains in every Strokes Gained category to finish with an average SG: Total of 2.08 strokes gained. This consistent play is exactly what Grillo has been showing recently, and is what allowed him to find some success at Oakmont. Don't be surprised to see Grillo near the top of the leaderboard in his next outing.

Grillo earned his first PGA Tour win since his rookie year in 2015-16 when he held onto win the Charles Schwab Challenge in a playoff. His eight top-10 finishes were a career high for the 31-year-old. However, Grillo missed double-digit cuts for the fourth straight season going 23-for-33 in 2022-23. Grillo's high finishes helped him outweight what the strokes gained numbers say which is that he was outside the top-75 in SG: Total. His ball-striking was actually slightly down last season, but the putting numbers just weren't awful, which led to some better results. Grillo should be fighting for a Top 50 spot in the FedExCup in 2024.
