A T6 in Puerto Rico and a T21 in Houston were the only top-30 finishes Highsmith had before he got red hot in the fall to lock up his PGA Tour card for 2025. Even though Highsmith missed double digit cuts as a rookie, he could post a lot of red numbers as he ranked top-15 on Tour in birdie average. There were positives to take from all parts of his game finishing top-60 on Tour in total driving, GIR percentage, SG: Around-the-Green and putts per GIR. Highsmith fired a final round seven-under 64 to claim the victory at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches by two shots.
ANALYSIS
After making the cut on the number, Highsmith stormed up the leaderboard after tying for the low round Saturday. He found himself four back to start Sunday's round, where he jumped into the solo lead after moving to six-under through 13 holes and ultimately fired a bogey-free 64 to once again tie for the low round of the day to coast late to a two-shot win. Highsmith gained shots in every strokes gained category for the week and gained 6.5 strokes putting over the weekend. It's the first career victory for the up-and-coming second-year Tour pro.
