Fishburn had a slow start to his rookie season, missing seven of his first eight cuts before he settled down to finish 81st in the FedExCup on the strength of nine top-25s across a 13-tournament stretch. Driving play is clearly the best part of the BYU product's game, as he ranked seventh in SG: Off-the-tee for the year. Fishburn's putting play also progressed as the year went on and his spike weeks on the greens often led to him being in contention. Fishburn got out to a hot start at Vidanta Vallarta with a six-under 65 on Thursday, but he hit only 10 of 18 greens in regulation while losing 4.55 strokes putting during Friday's second round to miss his fourth consecutive cut since a T6 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He's dropped to 91st in the FedExCup standings ahead of the upcoming Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, where he missed the cut during his PGA National debut last year.
