He recovered from a sluggish start by generating 24 tallies and 15 assists in 44 outings to end the regular season. Fantilli got a boost when Sean Monahan was out with a wrist injury and made the most of his top-line promotion. However, Fantilli continued to rack up points after sliding back into a second-line role down the stretch. He also added 191 shots on goal and 113 hits. Fantilli is up to nine goals, 17 points, 53 shots on net, 23 hits, 13 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 22 outings. He has two power-play points this campaign, but with his offense trending up recently, he should remain on the first line and top power-play unit.

Fantilli had a strong rookie campaign with 12 goals and 27 points in 49 outings, but a leg injury prevented him from playing past Jan. 28. While it was a rough end to his campaign, it doesn't change the fact that the 19-year-old (20 on Oct. 12) has tremendous upside. Having already given Columbus a taste of what he can do, the rebuilding Blue Jackets will likely use him in a top-six capacity and on the first power-play unit. If that proves to be the case, then it wouldn't be surprising to see Fantilli jump to 50-60 points in his sophomore season, though of course there's some risk there given that his level of NHL experience is still relatively low.
