Adam Gaudette

29-Year-Old CenterC
San Jose Sharks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
After starting 2024-25 on a torrid pace with 13 goals in his first 26 games, Gaudette came back down to earth and found the back of the net just six times over his final 55 outings. Overall, the right-shot forward had seven helpers, 26 points, 90 shots on goal and a plus-12 rating across a career-high 81 regular-season appearances with Ottawa. While Gaudette has a cannon of a shot, he probably hit his ceiling in the goal column given that his previous high-water mark was 12 in 2019-20 with Vancouver. The Massachusetts native could earn more ice time with the Sharks in comparison to what he managed with the Senators, but his 21.1 shooting percentage from last season is unsustainable going forward. Tips in goal
CSan Jose Sharks
November 8, 2025
Gaudette scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Gaudette got a tip on a Dmitry Orlov shot in the second period. The tally stood as the game-winner, Gaudette's first such goal this season. The 29-year-old center had gone four games without a point and also missed four contests due to an upper-body injury during that stretch. He's a finisher on offense, but his chances will likely remain limited since he's on the fourth line and second power-play unit. On the year, Gaudette has four goals, one assist, 17 shots on net, nine hits, eight PIM and a minus-4 rating over 12 appearances.

Gaudette's 2019-20 mini-breakout (12 goals, 33 points, 12 power-play points in 59 games) seems like a thing of the past on the heels of a 2020-21 season which saw him post career-low numbers (five goals, 11 points in 40 games) in addition to a late-season trade from Vancouver to Chicago. The Blackhawks will welcome back Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach on a full-time basis this coming year, in addition to acquiring Tyler Johnson in a deal with Tampa Bay, further pushing Gaudette down the depth chart. There isn't much to like here from a fantasy perspective.
Gaudette took a huge step forward in his second full NHL season, recording 33 points in 59 games. The Canucks are blessed with plenty of center depth -- Gaudette typically lines up in a third-line role behind Elias Pettersson and Bo Horvat. It's unlikely he'll keep shooting at 16 percent in 2020-21, but he does have a pass-first element to his game given he only put 75 pucks on net last year. Expect Gaudette to feature on the second power-play unit and perhaps tick closer to 14 minutes per game as the 24-year-old grows into a key middle-six role in 2020-21. He should be able to contribute at a 30-point pace.
Gaudette tallied 12 points in 56 games last season, primarily featuring in a bottom-six role for Vancouver. The 22-year-old figures to stay in the same role for the 2019-20 season and if he stays healthy, Gaudette could wind up with 20-30 points in his sophomore campaign with the Canucks. If he struggles out of the gate, Gaudette could see some time in the minors next season, which would obviously be a big blow to his in-season fantasy value. For that reason, steer clear of Gaudette during draft night, but keep close tabs on the youngster throughout the early part of the season to see if he comes out of the gate out in year two of his professional career.
After winning the Hobey Baker Award as the best collegiate player in 2018, Gaudette didn't look out of place jumping into the NHL right away even though he was held without a point in a five-game audition. The former Northeastern alum scored 30 goals and 60 points in his senior season and the Canucks see him as a potential second-line scoring center down the road, however, the 82-game schedule can be crushing for any rookie and Gaudette may also cede offensive opportunities to veteran Brandon Sutter once the young center emerges from the AHL.

Nearing return to action
CSan Jose Sharks
November 4, 2025
Gaudette is close to returning from an upper-body injury and could be ready to face the Kraken on Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
Gaudette will need to be activated off injured reserve before he can suit up Wednesday, but he certainly seems to be trending in the right direction. With William Eklund out with a lower-body injury, Gaudette could be shifted to the wing in a top-six role while also chipping in on one of the power-play units.
