                2025 Fantasy Outlook

There are two major reasons to fade Lowry heading into 2025-26. For one, he underwent hip surgery this offseason, which will keep him out of action until at least November and potentially longer. Hip injuries are tricky to come back from, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see his absence stretch into December and January. The other red flag was his 16.2 shooting percentage in 2024-25, when he had 16 goals and 34 points from the Jets' third line. Lowry's success as a shutdown forward means he'll be on the ice plenty when healthy, but the impending absence and the significant chance of both player-specific and team regression is simply not worth the risk. Lowry's point totals have peaked in the mid 30s, so there's little reason to stash him on injured reserve. Trending in right direction
Lowry (hip) is expected to be ready by late October or early November, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports Monday.
				  ANALYSIS
Lowry saw action in 73 regular-season games for the Jets last season in which he notched 16 goals and 18 assists despite not registering any points with the man advantage. Once given the all-clear, Lowry should slot into a third-line center role, though he could challenge Jonathan Toews for a spot in the top six.

Lowry has netted 12 goals and collected 23 assists in 81 regular-season games during the 2023-24 campaign. He also registered 119 shots on net and 181 hits while averaging a career-high 16:06 of ice time. Despite slipping below a 50 percent win rate for the first time since his sophomore season in 2015-16, Lowry ranked first on the Jets with 676 faceoff wins. He had 35 points last season after recording 36 the campaign before and should be back within that range in 2024-25. His durability and versatility help to make him an integral player in Winnipeg, but he doesn't move the needle much from a fantasy perspective. Still, his physical play and faceoff prowess could make him worthy of a pickup at some point.

				  Optimistic about extension
Lowry, who is dealing with a hip injury, isn't concerned with his contract negotiations and is optimistic that he'll reach an agreement with the Jets, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports Thursday.
				  ANALYSIS
Lowry is entering the final year of a five-year, $16.25 million contract, but he's been consistent in stating that he wants to spend the rest of his career in Winnipeg. While the two sides haven't yet struck a deal on an extension, it appears as though morale remains high, so it wouldn't be surprising to see an extension in place at some point. Lowry said that he hopes to return to game action in late October or early November as he continues to recover from his hip injury.
