2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pelech once again dealt with his share of injuries this past season -- that has become a trend, as his only year without missing a game is the shortened 2020-21 campaign. A defensive specialist, Pelech had zero goals but collected 21 assists, 109 shots on goal, 87 blocks and a plus-4 rating over 60 appearances in 2024-25. The left-shot blueliner will continue to see top-four minutes in 2025-26, but he’s a non-factor with the man advantage. Pelech led the Islanders in secondary assists (17) and was tied for the team lead in takeaways (36) last season, so his ability to break up plays and transition the puck up the ice helps him get on the scoresheet every few games. With that being said, he makes for nothing more than an extremely late dart throw in fantasy drafts, particularly in formats that account for blocked shots. Read Past Outlooks
Nets game-winning goal
Pelech scored the game-winning goal and recorded three blocks in Tuesday's 2-1 win over New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
Pelech delivered in the clutch Tuesday, as he tallied the game-winning goal with just 75 seconds remaining in the contest. With the game-winning twine finder, he is up to two goals, five points, 54 shots on net and 60 blocks across 37 games this season. While the 31-year-old blueliner is having a down year offensively, he has two goals and three points over his last 10 games, which is a vast improvement from the scoreless streak he had in November. Pelech also offers solid category coverage, averaging just under two blocks and shots per game. With his offensive numbers taking a turn in the right direction, he could see some value in deep fantasy category leagues if he can stay the course.

A key cog on the blue line for the Islanders, Pelech's season was completely derailed by an upper-body injury which cost him more than six weeks in the middle of the year. He appeared in just 58 games, posting a single goal and 16 points, his lowest mark in the past three seasons. Pelech is an elite penalty killer and one of the best stay-at-home defenders in the NHL, but he has never posted more than 28 points in any one season and his hit and blocked shot totals are middling for a defender. You can almost certainly do better on draft day.
