                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Pietrangelo earned four goals and 29 assists for a second straight regular season, but he achieved those totals in seven more appearances last campaign than in 2023-24. He also missed significant time due to injuries again, and in the offseason, he elected to undergo a bilaterla femur reconstruction to address a serious hip injury. He won't play in 2025-26 and is unlikely to play again in the NHL. Any fantasy managers in dynasty leagues that were holding onto him hoping for a return to past form can release him prior to this season. Playing future up in the air
Pietrangelo will be stepping away from the game of hockey indefinitely to recover from serious hip injuries, the team announced Monday.
				  ANALYSIS
Pietrangelo has enjoyed a wonderful career up to this point, playing over 1,000 games in the NHL and winning two Stanley Cup championships, but his future is very much up in the air after the news of his injuries. At minimum, he'll likely miss the entirety of the 2025-26 season, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to return at all moving forward. If this is it for the 35-year-old, he'll finish his career with 148 goals and 489 assists with a plus-123 rating in 1,087 career regular-season games, and he added 80 points in 149 playoff contests. He currently has two years remaining on his contract that carries an $8.8 million cap hit per season.

Pietrangelo provided four goals and 33 points while being limited to 64 regular-season contests in 2023-24. It's the third time in four seasons he's missed significant time, but before you get too worried about an emerging pattern, keep in mind that he was sidelined last season due to a combination of a non-COVID illness and appendicitis leading to his appendix getting removed, so it sounds like his most recent absences can be attributed to bad luck rather than recurring issues. If Pietrangelo does stay healthy in 2024-25, then he should be a good candidate to get above the 40-point mark for the 11th time in his career. The 34-year-old is getting up there in age, but Pietrangelo should still have at least a couple strong campaigns left in him.

				  Playing in 2025-26?
Pietrangelo, who is dealing with hip injuries, won't close the door on his playing career, according to Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Monday.
				  ANALYSIS
Pietrangelo also didn't rule out the chance that he could play in 2025-26, Webster reports. The veteran blueliner said his rehab process is going well, and he's putting off a potential bilateral femur reconstruction for as long as he can. The 35-year-old has remained in Las Vegas and is rehabbing with the Golden Knights' medical staff. In relation to how his recovery is going, Pietrangelo said, "The rehab process is the way I want to do it right now. It's been making a huge difference. I feel a lot better." While the door remains open for the Ontario native to continue his NHL career, Pietrangelo will officially be placed on long-term injured reserve when the season starts.
